Iraq: At least 10 killed in Baghdad suicide bombing BAGHDAD, (Xinhua): The explosions in central Baghdad on Sunday killed at least 10 people including two suicide bombers, an Interior Ministry source said. "The latest reports said that eight people were killed ( excluding suicide bombers), including four soldiers, and 21 others wounded, by the suicide bomb attack in downtown Baghdad," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. The attack took place at about 10:50 a.m. local time (0750 GMT) when three suicide bomber wearing explosive-vests tried to attack the operations command of Risafa area in eastern Baghdad, but the guards opened fire on them, killing two attackers and wounding the third who was later captured, the source said. The crossfire detonated the vests of two bombers, the source said, adding that the explosion killed the two bombers and another person and wounded 21 others, including 15 soldiers. The attack occurred at the same military base when a suicide bomber killed 48 army recruits and soldiers and wounded some 129 people nearly two weeks ago. Earlier, the source said that the attack was an explosion of a car bomb parking at al-Maidan area in Bab al-Mu'adham district. Sporadic attacks are still common in Iraq as security conditions deteriorated recently, which shaped a setback to the efforts of the Iraqi government to restore normalcy in the country days after the U.S. military formally announced withdrawal of its combat troops from the war-torn country.
