As-Salāmu `Alaykum (السلام عليكم)

The Prophet Adam (A.S.)

Adam is an Arabic word for 'man'. He was the progenitor of human race. He is reckoned to be the first Prophet by the Muslims. He was also the first man whom The Almighty had created from the elements of clay. The Holy Qur'an affirms:
"O mankind! Surely We created you from dust." (Qur'an 30:20)
The gradual process of man's physical development has been referred to in the following verses of the Holy Qur'an:
"He began the creation of man from dust. Then He made his progeny of an extract of water held in light esteem. Then he made him complete and breathed into him of His spirit and made for you ears and eyes and heart." (Qur'an 32:7-9)
According to the latest scientific research, the man has been created from clay with all its elements and their inherent properties. It is discovered by a chemical analysis of the human body that a defect occurs in its normal functioning when the quality of any of these elements gets diminished. In such case vitamins are used to supplement the deficiency and restore normal health.
The Creation of Prophet Adam:

Before the creation of mortal, The Almighty directed all the angels to assemble. Thousands upon thousands of angels (created from light) and Jinns (created from fire) gathered in groups. They bowed respectfully in the presence of The Almighty. The Creator of the universe declared that He intended to create the man. The angels and Iblis (Satan) disapproved the idea and pointed out that human beings would cause disorder on the earth. They would make mischief and shed blood indiscriminately. The Holy Qur'an gives a description of this even in the following verses:
"And when your Lord said to the angels: I am about to appoint a vicegerent in the earth. They said: Will you place therein such as will cause disorder in it or shed blood? We celebrate your praise and extol your holy names. He answered: I know what you know not." (Quran 2:30)
Angels were asked to make Obeisance to Adam:

The Almighty taught Adam the names of all things and inculcated into his mind the knowledge of their properties. The Holy Qur'an says:
"And He taught Adam the names of all things; then presenting them to the angels, He said: Tell Me the names of these if you are right." (Quran 2:31)
The angels did not know their names and said:
"Glory be to You. We have no knowledge except what You have taught us. Surely, You are the Knowing, the Wise." (Quran 2:32)
After that, The Almighty questioned Adam in the presence of all angels about the names of different objects. He gave correct answers. On the basis of this superiority, The Almighty asked all the angels to bow as a mark of respect to Adam who was created so miraculously. The Holy Qur'an affirms:
"O angels! Fall down making obeisance to Adam." (Quran 15:29)
Angels Prostrated but Iblis (Satan) Refused:

When the angels heard the commandment of The Almighty, they all complied without hesitation. They bowed with respect and admiration to the new creation and that was Adam. However, Iblis (Satan) did not surrender on various pretexts and stood still. They Holy Qur'an says:
"And when We said to the angels: Make obeisance to Adam, they did obeisance, not so Iblis, he refused and was haughty and he was of the rejecter." (Quran 2:34)
Challenge of Iblis:

Iblis disobeyed The Almighty and became defiant. He arrogantly refused to accept the authority of a creature who was made of rubbish. Iblis thought himself superior to human being. As a result, The Almighty expelled Satan from the Garden of Bliss and deprived him of all Divine favors. Satan requested The Almighty to allow him to exist until the Day of Judgment. "I would bring most of the descendants of Adam under my sway. I would lead them astray from the Right Path." Allah gave him respite. The conversation between God and Iblis has been narrated in the Holy Qur'an as follows:
"Iblis said: Give me respite till the Resurrection Day. The Almighty said: Be you among those who are given respite. He said: I will certainly lie in wait for them on Your Straight Path. Then I will assault them from before them and behind them, from their right and from their left, not will You find most of them grateful." (Quran 7:14-18)
Devil is, in fact, an evil spirit which tempts the man to indulge in sins. It invites the heart to do bad deeds and disobey The Almighty. It tries to weaken our sense of morality but if we are spiritually too strong to yield to its temptations, we become immune from all sins. Those who follow the Commandments of The Almighty, invite God's grace to protect them. On the other hand, those who deliberately follow the wrong way, are responsible because they put themselves into the hands of Evil Spirit.
Hawwa (Eve) Created:

In order to remove the lonesomeness of Adam, a female mate named Hawwa (Eve) was created. The Prophet Adam (A.S.) and his wife Hawwa were given a place in the Garden (of Bliss) to reside. The Holy Qur'an affirms:
"And O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in the Garden (of Bliss) and eat therefrom wherever you will; approach not this tree, lest you should be among the wrong-doers." (Quran 7:20)
Trial of Prophet Adam:

The Prophet Adam (A.S.) and his wife Eve continued enjoying each others company and carefully avoiding that specific prohibited tree. Iblis became very jealous when he saw the favors of The Almighty on the Prophet Adam (A.S.) and began to devise ways and means to humiliate them. He kept on making evil suggestions to the couple in a sneaky way. He tried to persuade them to approach the prohibited tree. One day, Iblis sympathetically said to them:
"Your Lord has only forbidden you this tree lest you should become angels or immortals, and he swore to them saying: Surely, I am a sincere counselor unto you. So he beguiled them by deceit." (Quran 7:22)
On healing this both, Prophet Adam (A.S.) and Eve, became curious. They started wondering as to why The Almighty did not want them to approach the specific tree. This temptation gradually became stronger, but The Almighty guided them aright and warned them not to be taken in by the evil suggestions of Iblis. The Holy Qur'an says:
"Then We said: O Adam! Verily, this Iblis is an enemy to you and your wife, so let him not get you both out of the Garden so that you are landed in misery." (Quran 20:117)
The Prophet Adam (A.S.) and his wife used to live happily in the Garden of Bliss. They were endowed with the knowledge to discriminate between good and evil. They were also warned of the power of evil. They overpowered all sorts of evil temptations at first and tried hard to ward off the influence of Satan. But he made numerous attempts to misguide them off and on.
Finally, Satan succeeded in his mission and made them approach that specific tree. Instantly, evil consequences appeared. The Holy Qur'an says:
"When they both tasted of the tree, their private parts became manifest to each other and they both began to cover themselves with the leaves of the trees (in the garden), and their Lord called them saying: Did I not forbid you both from that tree and tell you that Satan was your avowed enemy. They said: Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not and bestow not upon us Your mercy, we shall surely be of the losers." (Quran 7:23-24)
The Prophet Adam (A.S.) and Hawwa Feel Penitence:

The Prophet Adam (A.S.) and Eve followed the temptations of Iblis and were deprived of the heavenly bliss. They were, however, overflooded with grief. They requested The Almighty to forgive them. The Almighty, the Most Merciful accepted their repentance and chose them for His mercy. At the same time, He dispelled them from the Garden of Bliss. They became ordinary people. They had to live like us for only a certain span of life on this earth. They would be recreated again to be judged for their actions on the Day of Judgment.
The Almighty gives Directions:

They lived for many years. The Almighty sent directions and guidance to the Prophet Adam (A.S.). He taught others about the religion of The Almighty. He advised his descendants to do good and avoid evil. He told the people to act upon The Almighty's Commandments and follow His guidance. It would serve the purpose of shield to do away with the attacks of the devil. The Almighty says:
"Whoso shall follow My Guidance, on them shall come no fear, nor shall they grieve. But those who will disbelieve and treat Our Signs as lies, they shall be the inmates of the fire and they shall abide therein." (Quran 2:39-40)

The Martyrdom of Sahabah Anas bin Nadhr (R.A.A.)

The Martyrdom of Sahabah Anas bin Nadhr (R.A.A.)Anas bin Nadhr (raa) was one of the Sahabahs who had missed the great campaign of Badr. He very much regretted to have missed the honor of participating in the first and the most illustrious battle for Islam. He longed for a chance wherein he could make amends for Badr. He did not have to wait for long. The battle of Uhud came about in the following year. He joined the army with the most determined zeal. Despite heavy odds, the Muslims were gaining the upper hand, when some people made a blunder and the Muslims had to suffer a reverse. The Prophet (pbuh) had posted a band of fifty archers to guard a pass in the rear against the enemy cavalry. They had definite instructions not to move from their positions until further orders from him. But when the Archers saw the Muslims gaining victory and the enemy in full flight, they left their positions believing that the battle was over and it was time to join in the pursuit and get on to the booty. The leader of the band tried his utmost to check them by reminding them of the Prophet's command and he also tried to solicit them to stay on, but no more than ten archers listened to him, while the others argued that the orders were given by the Prophet (pbuh) only for the duration of the actual fight. The enemy cavalry then noticed the unguarded pass in the rear, made a flank movement and forced a passage through it.

The Muslims who were pre-occupied with the booty were caught unguarded. In such a state of affairs Anas (raa) saw Sa'ad bin Ma'az (raa) passing in front of him. He shouted to him: "O, Sa'ad! Where are you going? By Almighty! I smell the fragrance of Paradise coming from Mount Uhud." Saying this, he threw himself into the very thick of the enemy and fought till he met his martyrdom. After the battle, it was found that his body had been mauled and mutilated to such an extent that only his sister could identify him and that barely from the finger tips. No less than eighty wounds of arrows and swords were counted on his body.

Those who strive in the Path of The Almighty with sincerity and devotion taste the pleasure of Paradise even in this world.

The Prophet Sheth (pbuh)

The Prophet Sheth (pbuh)

Sheth (pbuh) was the third son of the Prophet Adam (pbuh). When Prophet Sheth (pbuh) was born, his father, the Prophet Adam (pbuh), had attained the age of 130 years. The Almighty conferred upon him the honor of Prophethood after Adam (pbuh). It is said that The Almighty revealed to him fifty small portions of the Scripture. When Prophet Adam (pbuh) was on death bed, he appointed Sheth (pbuh) as his successor and advised his descendants to follow him and live peacefully in perfect harmony. He tried to guide his followers on the right path, but some of them were strayed by the Satan. They began to worship Satan's self-made portrait. Prophet Sheth (pbuh) passed away at the age of 912 years. Anush, his son, won a remarkable position after him. In the fourth century there existed in Egypt a sect of gnostic, calling themselves Sethians. They regarded Sheth as a divine emanation.

The Prophet Idris (pbuh)

The Prophet Idris (pbuh) -- Enoch (Biblical Name)

As a result of the efforts of the Prophet Sheth (pbuh) some people began to believe in The Almighty. As the time passed by, they shifted their attention towards the worshiping the statue of their prophet. They became polytheists, religious- and faithless. They adopted indecent ways of life. Under such circumstances, The Almighty sent the Prophet Idris (pbuh) for the reformation and guidance of those who had gone astray. The Holy Qur'an mentions him in the following verse: "Commemorate Idris in the Book, verily he was a man of truth and a Prophet and We raised him to a lofty station." (Qur'an 19:56)
Preaching and Opposition

The Prophet Idris (pbuh) preached monotheism. He directed his people to abandon idol-worship. He emphasized them not to be captivated by the love for wealth and property. He advised them to abstain from drinking wine and other intoxicants. Only a few men paid heed to his teachings but the majority of the people opposed him bitterly. Prophet Idris (pbuh) did not lose heart and continued preaching with unshakable constancy. He is appreciated for his firm faith and forbearance in the following verses of the Holy Qur'an:"All (Isma'il, Zhul-Kill and Idris) were men of constancy and patience. We admitted them into Our Mercy, for they were of the righteous ones." (Qur'an 21:85-86)
Migration to Egypt

Inspire of the untiring efforts the Prophet Idris (pbuh) could not attain considerable success and felt disgusted with the indifferent attitude of the public. He was directed to migrate to Egypt and settle on the banks of the river Nile. He preached the religion of The Almighty among the various tribes and admonished them to be good and civilized. Consequently, he brought a remarkable change in the moral and social life of the people.
Some sayings of the Prophet Idris (pbuh):

• Do not feel jealous of the prosperity of others.
• He who has unlimited desires is deprived of the wealth of contentment.
• One should be sincere in the acts of devotion.
• It is an act of grave sin to take false oaths.
• Patience is a key to victory.
• He who controls his passions is fortunate. Only a good act will be a living intercessor before The Almighty on the Day of Judgment.
• One who is desirous of attaining perfection in knowledge; should have no concern with immoral acts.

The Learned Prophet

Prophet Idris (pbuh) was born 100 years after the death of the Prophet Adam (pbuh). He was the first man who learnt to write.
It is said that thirty portions of The Almighty's Sacred Scriptures were revealed to him. He was the inventor of the science of the Astronomy and the Arithmetic.
Death Event

Prophet Idris (pbuh) passed away at the age of 365 years. Mutwaslah was one of his distinguished sons who made his mark.

The Prophet Hud (pbuh)

The Prophet Hud (pbuh)

Hud (pbuh) was the Prophet sent to the Bani 'Ad for their reformation. His lineage genealogy joins with the Prophet Nuh (Noah) (pbuh) and his sons. The Prophet Hud (pbuh) belonged to the Bani 'Ad. They were the descendants of Sam.
Outstanding Qualities of the 'Adites:

The 'Adites left Babylon after they had a quarrel with the people of Ham. They settled down in the Southern Arabian district contiguous to ' Umman, Yemen and Hadramaut. There they built palaces, erected temples, and worshipped deities. Their chief deities were Saqi'ah, Salimah, Raziqah and Hafizun. 'Adites were tall in stature and skillful masons. Almighty had blessed them with abundance of wealth, cattle, and children. 'Adites had attained a considerable degree of civilization. Among them flourished the famous king Shaddad. He built a magnificent palace near 'Aden, South Yemen. It was known as the Garden of Iram. He was a mighty king and his conquests extended to Syria, Iraq and the frontier of sub-continent of Indo-Pakistan. These people were proud of their achievements and considered themselves to be invincible. They were indulged in sins and committed acts of injustice and violence. Instead of expressing a deep of gratitude to The Almighty for the favors he had bestowed upon them, they became transgressors and showed disobedience to The Almighty.
The Advent of the Prophet Hud (pbuh)

Prophet Hud (pbuh) appeared among the 'Adites to guide them. He tried his best to bring the 'Adites back to the worship of One Almighty. He directed them to give up all their evil practices. He advised them to abstain from committing sins, but they paid no heed to the teachings and warnings. The Holy Qur'an states:
"And to the 'Ad, We sent their brother Hud. He said: O' my people! Serve The Almighty, you have no other God than Him. Will you not then keep away from evil and he mindful of your duty to Him. The Chiefs of those who disbelieved from among his people said: Most surely, we see you in folly and indeed we think you to be of the liars. He said: O' my people! There is no folly in me, but I am an Apostle of the Lord of the Worlds. I convey to you the message of my Lord and I am a sincere adviser to you." (Quran 7:65)
The Deluge is Descended

The people did not listen to him and disobeyed the Commandments of The Almighty. For this disobedience the wrath of The Almighty came down upon them. A drought of unusual severity and a violent storm nearly annihilated the majority if the people of the Bani Ad.The Holy Qur'an states:
"As to the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring violent blast which The Almighty made to prevail over them for seven nights and eight days continuously so that you mightiest have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were hollow trunks of palm tree." (Quran 69:6-7)
This storm had such a devastating effect that all the proud and disobedient people were completely destroyed but the Prophet Hud (pbuh) and his followers remained safe and sound. The Holy Qur'an States:
"So We delivered him (Prophet Hud) and those with him by Mercy from Us and We cut off the last of those who treated Our Signs as lies and were disbelievers." (Quran 7:72)
Afterwards the remnant who survived established themselves in Yemen. The grave of the Prophet Hud (pbuh) is in Hadramaut. It is visited by the Arabs in the month of Rajab.

Stories of the Sahabah - Ammaar (R.A.A.)

Ammaar (R.A.A.)

Ammaar (R.A.A.) and his parents were also subjected to the severest affiliations. They were tormented on the scorching sands of Mecca.
The Holy Prophet (S.AW.), while passing by them, would enjoin patience giving them glad tidings about paradise. Ammar's father Yasir (R.A.A.) died after prolonged sufferings at the hands of persecutors and his mother Sumyya (R.A.A.) was killed by a spear from Abu Jahl. Sumyya (R.A.A.) had refused to renounce Islam in the face of terrible torture in her old age. The blessed lady was the first to meet martyrdom in the cause of Islam.
The first Masjid (mosque in Islam was built by Ammaar (R.A.A.). When the Prophet (.) emigrated to Medina, Ammaar (R.A.A.) offered to build a structure for him where he could sit, take rest in the afternoon, and perform his Salat under its roof. He built the Masjid in Kab'ah. He fought against the enemies of Islam with great zeal and courage. During one of the battles Ammaar (R.A.A.) asked for water but was offered some milk. He graciously accepted it and said: "I am to meet my friends very soon; I am to meet the Prophet (.) and his companions. The Holy Prophet (.) had told me that the milk shall he my last drink in this worldly life." He then fought till he met his coveted end. At the time of his death, Ammaar (R.A.A.) was 94 years of age. To be able to please The Almighty, was really the Sahahah's (Companions) greatest achievement, and the sole purpose of their life.
