Pakistan: Pak-Iran gas deal should go ahead, says Senator

Islamabad, (Jamaat-e-Islami Press Release) : Prof. Khurshid Ahmad, Senator and Naib Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan has taken exception to the statement of US Special Envoy Mr. Richard Habrooke about Pakistan Iran Natural Gas Pipeline Agreement. “This is no business of America to interfere in our sovereign dealings with other states in our national interest”, Prof. Khurshid stressed.

Prof. Khurshid Ahmad has also criticized the statement of the Prime Minister of Pakistan who has indirectly expressed his intention to surrender to the American pressure. “Iran has every right to develop its nuclear technology for peaceful purposes and the American effort to impose sanctions on Iran is an act of aggression”, he emphasized. Senator Prof. Khurshid has suggested that Pakistan should coordinate its activities with Turkey and Brazil to frustrate US efforts to bully Iran. “The US and UN have nothing to say about Israel’s nuclear weapon programme but they are trying to punish Iran for a crime that have not been committed”, he added.

“Pakistan and all Muslim countries and the third world countries should resist US efforts to impose its policy on the world community. Pakistan’s Parliament should express its solidarity with Iran and affirm that Pakistan-Iran Gas Deal would materialize inshaaAllah at all cost”, he concluded.
