Default Did islam spread with the force of the sword?

Those who allege that islam spread with the force of the sword need to look again at the way the early muslims embrace islam.there was neither promise of any wordly riches no comprulsion force.those who accepted islam ,did so purely as a results of the genuiness of the prophet mohammad pbuh message ,his attractive and exemplary personality, his flawless character and the direct and simple divine message of the glorious quran.

i got this information from a book called the beautifull life of Muhammad Peace be Upon Him so i thought i share it with everyone.

    jazzak Allah sis
Islam is the only religion that gives message of love and peace for all except those who want to have a war with innocent Muslims or who commit Forbidden or unlawful actions in islamic govts for all those and Enimies of Islam Islam always protected its followers By the Act of Jihad that is obligatory in these conditions but in the absence of such situation Islam has a very peacefull and tolerant aproach towards non muslims.

There is no place in the Quran that gives the Muslims instructions to persecute Non-Muslims. Wherever it is mentioned in the |Qu'ran regarding jihad, it is for self-defence or in battles where the Non-Muslims are not standing like peaceful people,; they fight also.
Rasullullah (Swallallahu Alaihi Wassalam) was sent as "A MERCY TO ALL MANKIND". Allah did not tell him (Swallallahu Alaihi wassallam) to force anybody to believe in one God only. In the Quran it says "THERE IS NO COMPULSION IN RELIGION" (2:256).
Rasullullah (Swallallahu Alaihi Wassalam) said "Whoever hurts a Non-Muslim citizen of a Muslim state hurts me, and he who hurts me annoys God" (Bukhari)

Hadrat Anas Radi ALLAH Taala Anhu reported that the Messenger of Allah Peace And Blessings Be Upon Him has said, “Everything has a heart, and the heart of the Qur’an is Yasin. Allah records anyone who recites Yasin as having recited the Qur’an ten times.”

De Lacy O'Leary in 'Islam at the Crossroads,' London, 1923.

History makes it clear, however, that the legend of fanatical
Muslims sweeping through the world and forcing Islam at the point of sword upon
conquered races is one of the most fantastically absurd myths that historians
    have ever repeated.

Mahatma Gandhi, statement published in 'Young
    India,'1924.

I wanted to know the best of the life of one who holds today an
undisputed sway over the hearts of millions of mankind.... I became more than
ever convinced that it was not the sword that won a place for Islam in those
days in the scheme of life.
It was the rigid simplicity, the utter
self-effacement of the Prophet the scrupulous regard for pledges, his intense
devotion to his friends and followers, his intrepidity, his fearlessness, his
absolute trust in God and in his own mission. These and not the sword carried
everything before them and surmounted every obstacle. When I closed the second
volume (of the Prophet's biography), I was sorry there was not more for me to
    read of that great life.
