Default Is Islam currently in a state of 'Reformation'?

There are a lot of similarities between the 'Protestant Reformation' and the internal battles being waged between Sunnis and Shiites.

The Protestant Reformation took place, due to the Roman Catholics 'adding' to the Word of God (KJV Bible). The Catholics state that their 'practices' were taught to them by the apostles. Many of these practices are in conflict with the written Word.

The Sunnis have 'added' the 'sunna' to the Koran, which is the following of Moslem law based, according to tradition, on the teachings and practices of Mohammed and observed by Orthodox Moslems: a supplement to the Koran. The Shiites do not accept the sunna as authoritative.

The Protestant Reformation was just as 'violent' as we see now taking place throughout the Middle East. What is the point of such hatred and violence? Is faith/religion, not a personal matter between ourselves, individually, and God/Allah? Is it not a good time to separate 'faith' and 'state', and let God/Allah judge who is right or wrong? Is it necessary to murder people and destroy the structures of society that have been built over a long period of time at a high cost (labour and money)? Is it not time to negotiate, and let people worship God/Allah in their own way?

You can never compare Islam with other religion though all Muslim have to believ Prophets starting from Adam to Last Prophet Mohammed . Besides, Sunna is not added to Koran . If you can not understand or find answer in Koran you refer to Hadith or Sunna.
Islam never preaches Voilency and those take the line of are not suppose to be muslim. You know all the big forces are behind creating terrirests like Bin Laden etc.
So you cannot blame Islam for terreriesm.
You cannot seperate faith and state as you are not faithful to you and your God you cannot be faithful to state also.

Thank you for your reply. I found my information regarding the 'Sunna', in my dictionary. You can be faithful to God, and still follow the rules set out by the state, as long as the rules you follow, do not break God's laws. We all must live within a 'peaceful' life that conforms to the Word of God. We all know that everyone on this earth has committed evil. We have all sinned. Loving and fearing God, means that we try not to sin, and do our best to stop sinning. The power given to Satan, makes this very difficult. His deception gets to us, often before we realize it. God knows this.

What really bothers me, is the allowance of 'carrying out a jihad', in the muslim religion. This is in direct conflict with God's commandment, "Thou shall not kill." If God has not directed a person to carry out a 'jihad', then the use of such, can only be classed as 'vanity'. In this case, a person(s) is 'playing God', without God's approval. In every other civilized nation, carrying out such acts, is deemed to be 'murder', and ungodly.
