Thread: The Golden Container

a man punished his 3-year-old daughter for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper. Money was tight and he became infuriated when the child tried to decorate a box

Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift to her father while he sat drinking his coffee, and said, "This is for you, Daddy." 1

He was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again when he opened the box found that the box was empty. He yelled at her again,"Don't you know when you give someone a present, there's supposed to be something inside it?" 1

And he threw the box in the trash and buried his face in his hands .The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and said, "Oh, Daddy it's not empty, I blew lots kisses into the box. All for you, Daddy." 1

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged
for her forgiveness. She hugged him back and covered his face with kisses. He gently took the box out of the trash and together they smoothed out the gold paper

He pretended to take kisses out of the box while his daughter laughed and clapped her hands with glee. The two of them had a lot of fun together that day. The father promised himself that he would work harder to maintain a good relationship with his daughter, and he did

Father and daughter grew very close as the years went by. Then, a horrible accident took the life of the child ten years later and it is told that the man, who had kept that gold box all those years, took it out and put it on the table by his bed

Whenever he was discouraged, he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the unconditional love of his child who had put it there

Each of us as humans, have been given a gold container filled with unconditional love and kisses from our children,friends and family. There is no more precious possession anyone could hold
