As-Salaam alaikum,
In ayat 43 of Surat al-Furqan of the Holy Qur'an (25:43), Allah Ta'ala says:--
"Have you seen the person who has made his desires his god"?
Closely studied, this means there are 2 gods in our existence which we must recognize; one is the true god- ie Allah Ta'ala, our Creator, Lord and Cherisher and the second is our inner-self (ego), which rules over a person by enslaving him/her in desires. This Noble ayat tells us, in a way, that we must get rid of this duality and find the One God... Allahu Tabaraka Wa Ta'ala.
