  • Consider Ayat 16, Surat Sajdah.

    As-Salaam alaikum,
In Ayat 16 of Surat Sajdah of the Holy Qur'an (32:16), Allah Ta'ala says:--

    "Their sides forsake their beds".

Thus Allah, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, has legislated qiyamul-layl year round. Here, the Noble Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said:--

"Hold fast to night prayer, for it was the way of the righteous before you, a way of drawing
closer to your Lord, an expiation for wrong deeds, and a shield from sin." [Tirmidhi].

Literally, "Qiyam" means standing up, particularly after sleeping, just as we say 'YUOM AL-QIYAMAH' for Day of Judgement as we rise to stand before Allahu, Tabaraka Wa Ta'ala, after much rest in our graves. This is why sleep is like a daily death, and Qiyam is to rise from it.

Whoever stands the night in prayer... in Tahajjud...Allah will make easy for him in standing on the Day of Judgement, as some of our 'Ulama observe. Sayyadi Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, also advised:-

"Whoever loves to find the long standing of the Day of Resurrection less difficult should let himself
to Allah in the darkness of the night prostrating and standing, fearing the Hereafter and hoping
    for Mercy of his Lord."

So, go make it your regular habit, dear Brothers and Sisters, to be offering/performing this Sunnah of Tahajjud, the voluntary Night Prayer accordingly, in our life.
