Need Advice!

I was asked from a prisoner via a friend to do a dua for him.
I do not know what to do. Any help!.
This prisoner is not in captivity by the enemies. He was not fighting in the path of Allah.
He is just a common criminal, was sentenced to imprisonment.
Any suggestion!

May Allah forgive his sins and show him the right path and make him repent on his sins and make him Able to do Touba may Allah make his punishment easy for him and and May Allah show mercy at the Day of judgement and he if experience the punishment in this world wud be saved from the svere punishment of the day of judgement May he and his family be patient on this sentence so that he will not be sentenced here after....
i hope u understand what i said bcoz if we make Dua may he be saved from this punishment he may get it here after and that wud b severe...
but u should advice them first to do touba and repent on his sins and then ask Allah for forgiveness.Allah is very kind gracious and mercyfull he Will surely forgive him and he might be saved from punishment
